Saturday July 17 (rain date July 18) Meet at Prince Edward Point Government Dock 10 am

Join Marc Seguin and Mark Paddison for a stroll to the Prince Edward Point Lighthouse and a detour on the way back to investigate the ruins of a probable settler's homestead.

Marc Seguin is an author and historian.  His recent book "For Want of a Lighthouse - Building the Lighthouses of Eastern Lake Ontario 1828-1914" is a comprehensive account of the building of the lighthouses of Eastern Lake Ontario.  Marc will lead us from the Prince Edward Point Harbour area on an easy walk to visit the Prince Edward Point Lighthouse.  Along the way and at the venue he will tell us about the Lighthouse constructed in 1881 and the reasons why it was built.

As we stroll back toward the harbour local resident and explorer, Mark Paddison will lead us into the fields towards the other side of the peninsula.  Mark has discovered evidence of an attempt at settlement in the fields.  We will learn more about the fishing and sailing adventures of the early inhabitants of this rugged part of the County.

Please wear close toed shoes and bring water and insect repellant.

Will you come?
