Stroll Prince Edward Point with Joanne Dewey
You are invited to join local birder and naturalist Joanne Dewey on a stroll from Prince Edward Point Harbour to the Lighthouse. Joanne is very familiar with this area since she banded birds in the Lighthouse with Kingston Field Naturalists as a student at Queens in the late 1970's. Joanne went on to serve as a naturalist at Sandbanks Park for many years. She was also on the inaugural board of the Prince Edward Point Bird Observatory.
Fall migration will be well underway so there may be an opportunity to practise your identification of warblers in fall plumage. There will be late summer wild flowers in bloom and migrating dragonflies and Monarchs to see. We may be able to take a short stroll into the old field area to look for grassland birds as well.
It is always a good idea to bring water on a stroll and to be prepared for sun and insects. As throughout the County, there are ticks and poison ivy at the point. Sturdy footwear is recommended on any hike.
