20,000+ Observations of South Shore Biodiversity on iNaturalist!
The Biodiversity of Prince Edward County’s South Shore project on iNaturalist, makes it easier than ever to record and explore the incredible species found along our coastline. The project was initiated by SSJI volunteer and dedicated naturalist John Lowry, whose expertise and photography have long supported local biodiversity work.
The South Shore is one of our region’s richest biodiversity hotspots — a key reason SSJI was founded and why biodiversity monitoring became one of our five strategic pillars in 2023. By contributing your observations, you help build valuable open data used by researchers, land managers, and conservation organizations to track species trends, identify emerging issues, and better protect this unique ecosystem.
Before you go out on your own or join any of our guided walks — make sure to download iNaturalist app and take a note of your observations. Read more about this project on our website, including links and tips on how to use iNaturalist.
