Cultural and Natural Heritage Tour of Point Petre and Area

Saturday November 13 (rain date Sunday November 14)

9 am

Tickets $15 per person (Tickets are not tax deductible)

Meet at the corner of Army Reserve Road and Cty Rd 24

We will explore the Point Petre Area from Soup Harbour to the Lighthouse.

There are many stories about this area – Ships lost in winter gales, Lifeboat rescues and in more recent times Avro Arrow test runs.  We will explore the beautiful shoreline, watch for the gathering of wintering arctic ducks and hear some interesting stories.

Alex Bowling has agreed to come along and show us the Orenda that he wrote about in the June issue of our newsletter, the South Shoreliner.  This interesting artifact from the Avro Arrow tests is shrouded in brush, but still accessible.

Another special guest, Leon McConnell will tell us about the unknown sailors washed up on the Point Petre shore It was Leon’s great grandfather who found the sailors and buried them in the farmer’s field nearby.  We will have an opportunity to view this quiet little cemetery in the forest.

This tour is limited to 20 people.  Please register early.

Sorry, this event is sold out.
