Rachel Hardy is a traditional artist and photographer from Prince Edward County. Her works focus on nature, aviation and conservation themes. Birds have been of special interest for the last five years in both her photography and traditional art. 

“Kingfisher” is a work that was part of expanding Rachel’s colored pencil experience and subject matter. The bird’s vibrant plumage was a technical challenge and had long been an inspiration to attempt. Colored pencil was used to allow for maximum detail and to ensure the vibrance of the bird’s feathers.
