Prince Edward County Field Naturalists (PECFN) with Nature Conservancy of Canada (NCC), Prince Edward Point Bird Observatory (PEPtBO) and Hastings Prince Edward Land Trust (HPELT) present PEC BioBlitz 2020, our 7th annual bioblitz. Community volunteers of all ages, young and young at heart, are invited to join scientists and experts to record all the living species in the newly acquired MapleCross Coastline Reserve.
Become a citizen scientist! It’s fun, exciting and close by! Join guided walks led by experts. See dragonflies, butterflies and moths up close. Look for evidence of mammals, insects, amphibians and reptiles. Identify plants and birds you've always wondered about.
$5/adult admission includes dinner on Friday evening and wrap-up BBQ on Saturday afternoon. Children under 16 free - must be accompanied by an adult. Parking and portable washrooms available.
RSVP here for pre-registration (recommended). Onsite registration at intersection of Babylon Road and Helmer Road begins at 1 PM Friday and continues throughout the event. Join us for both days, one day, a part day, an evening or just an hour or two. Be part of history; add your observations to the inaugural data collection for this site.
Check PEPtBO website for updates, details on scheduled walks, what to bring, what to wear, registration information and directions to the site. Be prepared for some wet and uneven terrain.
