Point Petre Woods

meet at the corner of County Rd 24 and Army Reserve Road

This is your annual opportunity to join Wildflower enthusiast John Lowry to explore the ephermal flowers of spring in Point Petre Woods.

Every participant will receive John's explanatory brochure to help you identify common wildflowers. With its dry shady woods Point Petre is a wonderful habitat exhibiting waves of Dutchmens Britches, patches of Round leaved Hepatica and the Carolinian species Twinleaf hiding along the pathway edges.

Bring your camera, but be prepared for ticks and unfortunately, Poison Ivy.

We’ll also have SSJI’s newest T‑shirt available on site: the South Shore Flora tee featuring original artwork by local PEC artist Jan Swaren. The design highlights delicate blooms found across the South Shore, printed on a soft, breathable cotton shirt. You can purchase by cash, e‑transfer, or Square before/after the walk. Or buy on-line here.

Take a pick at some common gems you might see and visit our online wildflower photo gallery.

This is a free event, just like most of our programs, and if you’re able, we’d truly appreciate a donation to support SSJI’s ongoing conservation work.

Will you participate?
