By becoming a South Shore Joint Initiative member you are committing to our Mission, Vision, and to our values as expressed in SSJI’s mandate.

Five years ago, we acted to permanently protect Prince Edward County’s rare and fragile South Shore. We created the South Shore Joint Initiative and advocated for Point Petre Provincial Wildlife Area and Ostrander Point Crown Land Block to become a Conservation Reserve. The designation process is nearly complete.

The path to get here wasn’t easy. It took thousands of volunteer hours. And, where there were gaps, we wrote grants, sold t-shirts, asked for donations and scraped together funds for professional support, insurance, educational guides, online tools and events like our 2022 Create the Future conference. Work has begun on all five pillars we mapped out. A new conservation reserve, biodiversity protection, an eco-footpath, protected cultural heritage, public events and fundraising are all within sight.

Annual SSJI membership dues are $25 for an individual, $40 for a family (up to four individuals including one or two adults and children under the age of 18).  Dues are payable by March 31 each year.
