Stroll MapleCross Coastline Reserve

Saturday November 12

1:30 pm to 3 pm

Join Nature Conservancy Canada's Amanda Tracey and members of the Ontario Nature Eastern Ontario Regional Council as they stroll the MapleCross Coastline Reserve. Amanda is Coordinator, Conservation Biology – Central Ontario-East for NCC and has an intimate and thorough knowledge of the reserve. She will be able to tell us about NCC's efforts to remove invasive species and re-establish native ones.

The MapleCross Coastline Reserve is located close to Ostrander Point on the westerly edge of the Ostrander Point Crown Land Block. This 55 hectare (135-acre) property features wild, undeveloped shoreline, coastal wetland, forest, alvar and grassland. NCC acquired this property for the benefit of nature in 2019.

We will meet at the entrance to the property on Helmer Road. Amanda will lead us through the property to the Lake Ontario shore. Ticks carrying Lyme disease are endemic in the County and there will still be poison ivy along the pathways. Please wear sturdy walking shoes and be prepared for insects.

Will you come?
